ISIN

International 12-character security identifier.

The International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) is the global standard for uniquely identifying securities. It is twelve characters long and combines a two-letter country code, a national identifier (the CUSIP in the US) and a check digit.

While US filings rely on CUSIPs, the ISIN dominates in Europe and Asia. Cross-reference databases enable mapping between ISIN, CUSIP, ticker and FIGI — essential for anyone joining US 13F data with global sources.
